Ender's Game Questions Chapter 6-8


Chapter 6 – The Giant’s Drink
1. What is the purpose of the "Giant's" Game? How should Ender evaluate his success at this game? Is he a murderer?
  • The purpose of the giants game... Is that Ender naver gave up and to conguer a greater force of power by any means necessary.
Chapter 7 – Salamander
1. What did Alai say to Ender? Why is the exchange between Alai and Ender so important?
  • Alai emotionally exposed himself to Ender by kissing him on the cheek and whispered in his ear ''Salaam''. Ender guessed that the kiss and the word were somehomw equal.  
2. What is the "just living" mentioned in this chapter?  Is it true that Ender has never done this?  What does Ender want out of life?  How would you feel if you were he?
  • "just living" for Ender means that he wants to be normal like going to other villages and ackting like a little boy also so he could play and work.
  • ''Yes'' because they have been training him all his life for war and he doesn't have any time to be normal.
  • He want's to be normal and not kill or be killed.
  • i would probable think I am being used.  
3. How did Petra help Ender? How is Petra’s friendship a hindrance to Ender?
  • Everyday after breakfast they are training.
  • The first person that Ender made friends with was Petrabecause she is so nice and it hearts Ender to be Petra's friend because the way they treat Petra they now treat Ender because they are friends.  
4. What does Ender learn about leadership and tactics from Bonzo?
  • Bonzo tried to not let him learn anything.
  • Ender acktully learned something from Bonzo
  • He learned, the enemy's gate is down, ''use his legs as a shield in battle'', ''a small reserue held back until the end of the game can be decisive'', ''also solders can sometimes make small dicitions that are smarted than the orders they have been given''.
Chapter 8 – Rat
1. Graff says, “Ender Wiggin is ten times smarter and stronger than I am.”  Explain what this quote means.
  • Graff cheats so Ender will get smarter and smarter and win nomater what because nomater what Graff does Ender will win but if Anderson make's it hard for Graff then he cant train Ender to beat the buggers then everything will fall apart.
2. What is significant about the quote: “So teach me.”  “So learn.”
  • He wants Ender to wach alearn also to try to figure it out but he cant teach Ender unless he realy wants to know. 
3. Why is Ender’s response to an attack so significant?
  • Sence there is no gravity Ender can think of any dierection that could be up,down,left,or right but when he see's the enemy automatickly changes his diretion and uses his legs as a sheld and attacks.
4. What did the scene with the snake and Peter’s reflection represent?
  • Ender thinks the snake and Peter are the same because he is afraid and doesn't tell knowone how he fells but the reason he thinks there the same is because there both eviel but his worst fear is that he killed Peter and he realy hates killing.
5. How does the game know?
  • Graff moniterd Ender eversence he was born so he put all that montitering information in the computer and the computer used it and graff was surprised.
6. Discuss the importance of the last paragraph of this chapter.
  • They trained him to be a killer and he hates that side of him but he doesent have the freadom to think or do  watever he wants because he is there tool.

Ender's Game Questions Chapter 1-5

Chapter 1-third

1. What attitude motivates the adults to lie to Ender?
  • They didn't wnat him to be frighted and run awaywhen they took the monitor out of him. The adults lied to him to make it easer on themselfs.
2. Explain what it seems to mean for Ender to be born a "Third". Show whether this is
a negative or positive fact to:

- his parents,
"Negative"

His parents thinks hes negative because hes different and the other family's will treat them as if they were not equal. 

- his brother, Peter ''Negative''
Peter doesn't like Ender because he is jealous of what he became.

- his sister, Valentine ''Positive''
His sister loves him and wants the best for him
.
- his classmates ''Negative''
They will treat him differently because they want to be as smart as him.

Chapter 2 – Peter
1. Was Peter joking when he threatened Ender and Valentine?  Support your answer
  • I don't think he means is because he apologized
2. Why is Peter’s behavior at the end of the chapter so completely different from the rest of the chapter?
  • At the beginning of the chapter he is all mean and he treated Ender and Valentine. At the end of the chapter he says ''i'm sorry.''
3. How do you feel about each of these characters (Ender, Valentine, Peter)?  
  • Ender- He hates being the third wheel and know one is proud for him for that besides Valentine. (I think Ender is special because ha is the only third wheel.)
  • Valentine-She loves Ender and will do anything for him. (I think she is afraid of Peter and doesn't love him as much as Ender.)
  • Peter- He is jealous about Ender having the monitor so he is always being mean. (I think Peter is mean to him but i think he is probably proud of him on the inside.) 
Chapter 3 – Graff
1. What did Graff mean about evolution working against girls?
  • ''To many centuries of evolution are working against them.'' Everything wasn't equal between men and women, it was had for the women to become solders  because you had to work hard and train even harder besides women were tough to become mother  not solders 
2. Ender is leaving to learn how to fight a war, yet he takes Graff’s hand. Why does Orson Scott Card (OSC) include this action?
  • It is to show that he is a little boy and he is going into a scary life and then he is going to start making his own decisions.  
Chapter 4 – Launch
1. Explain the meaning of the following statement: “Individual human beings are tools that the others use to help us all survive.”
  • There using Ender as a weapon to fight the buggers, there not treating him like a human bean.  
2. Explain the following quote: "Isolate him enough that he remains creative -
otherwise he'll adopt the system here and we'll lose him." Your answer should
include the terms: isolation, creative, adopt, lose.
  • They want to isolate Ender because they don't want him to adopt his friends styles and there thinking, also they want him to be creative and not lose his great mind.
3. Did Ender mean to break the other boy’s arm?  What does this incident tell us about Ender?  Is it acceptable to do despicable things for survival?  Why or why not?
  • No because he didn't no null gravity would be so powerful.
  • Ender didn't know his own strength.
  • Yes because it is your life or there's.
Chapter 5 – Games
1. Ender works hard to express his feelings in private and not show homesickness in
front of any other person. Is it healthy for him or not?   What is positive and what is negative about showing feelings?  What is positive and what is negative about not showing feelings?
  • No because he will get emotional.
  • What is positive him showing his feeling, is that he might make friends.What is negative about him showing his is feeling is people would think he is a wimp and people might not like him.
  • What is positive about him not showing his feelings is some people might think he is brave.
  • What is negative about him not showing his feelings is that he will get emotional and take it out on himself or an innocent bystander.  
2. How did Ender beat Bernard?  Is this an unusual solution to his problem?
  • Ender beat him by sending fake messages and Bernard wants every boy to be his friend so those that were not his friend Bernard wants them to be his friend.
3. List the different coping mechanisms (ways of dealing with difficulties) Ender shows. For each one describe whether the overall result of each is helpful or harmful to Ender.
  • Sometimes it hearts him because he gets beat up.
  • Sometimes it helps him because he is making friends.

 Lying is justifiable if it's for the greater good.(3)
 Lying is never a good thing to do. You could get in a lot of trouble even for a little bit of lying. Also people lye just to save there skins or to protect a friend or even a relative. Sometimes a lie is okay from now and then but it should never become a habit. Honesty Is The Best Policy.

Sometimes violence is the only way to solve a problem.(4)
Yes and no i think sometimes violence is the way to solve a problem. Yes, when cops are on duty they sometimes use violence to sole the problem if necessary because Justice Needs To Be Served.No, because violence is never the answer if they didn't do everything wrong.

 It is okay to kill someone in self-defense.(3)
 I think no it is not okay to kill someone for self-defense because if they are doing something like shooting a gun at you then your in stinks are to run away, unless your a cop then you are required to shot back.

Words are stronger than fists.(5)
I say words are stronger then fists because words hurt you emotionally and fists hurt you fiscally.

Bullies hurt others because they have low self esteem.(4)
I think bullies hurt others because maybe they have been getting bullied  them selves or in trouble a lot and take it out on others and yes i agree they probable have a low self esteem.

Only the best and brightest students should receive the best education to become a nation's leaders.(4)
I agree that only the best and brightest students should receive the best education to become a nation's leaders, because they will end up making changes in our country

Revenge is never justified.(3)
I think revenge is justified but it also depends on how hard the revenge is.

Crying is evidence of weakness.(3)
Sometimes crying is evidence of weakness but it could just be emotionally and not fiscally.

Any action is acceptable in war.(4)
Yes any action is acceptable in war because in war it is okay to kill someone in self-defenseless. 

Teenagers need dicipline and rules because they can't control themselves.(2)
I disagree because I know a lot of people that don't need discipline but yes they do need rules and sometimes they could control themselves.

Only through personal sacrifice can someone create positive change.(4)
Yes because sometimes you could sacrifice a bed habit and it could be a great relief.

Generating compassion for your enemies is the only way to create peace.(3) 
Well I don't see why not unless you would want war instead of peace war, is bad because it is a fifty to fifty chance you will when or lose and peace is good.
